Every year, Bayreuth Baroque stages a new production directed by Max Emanuel Cencic, the artistic director and creative head of the festival. This year, he is staging the love drama Alessandro nell'Indie by Leonardo Vinci based on a libretto by Pietro Metastasio. Alessandro nell'Indie was published in Rome in 1730, where women were barred from performing for religious reasons. The Bayreuth production takes up this fact with an all-male cast featuring the Brazilian soprano Bruno de Sá and the countertenors Franco Fagioli and Jake Arditti in the leading roles. The orchestra is the Polish {OH!} Orkiestra Historyczna under the direction of Martyna Pastuszka. The Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival stages music theater in the authentic ambience of the Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth.

The Maris Liepa Charitable Foundation presents the one-act ballet "The Blue God" from Sergei Diaghilev's "Russian Seasons". A girl saves a young man from becoming a monk with the help of the Lotus Goddess and the Blue God. Despite his participation in the main roles of Nijinsky and Karsavina, "The Blue God" in 1912 failed in Diaghilev's entreprise, as it was set to the faded music of Reynaldo Khan. Andris Liepa replaced it with Alexander Scriabin's "Divine Poem", and Mikhail Fokin's unreleased choreography with a modern interpretation by Englishman Wen Eagling, but theater-goers and critics considered the new production a failure, while noting the outstanding work of artist Anna Nezhnaya in restoring costumes and decorations. Zara Larsson held a one-off online concert on International Women’s Day in 2021. The livestream concert aired exclusively on Larsson’s YouTube channel and her performing was inside an Ikea store in Sweden. In a press release, the singer said: “I am so excited to collaborate with Ikea on this performance on International Women’s Day. I have always felt so passionately about equality and I’m excited to dedicate my first show in over a year to all the amazing women around the world. I have missed performing live so much during this time I hope my band, dancers and I can bring some sparkle and fun to your homes.”
