During World War II, a tough officer organizes a commando raid into Germany.
April 1941, days before the beginning of the Second World War in Slovenia. A small unit of the Royal Yugoslav Army is sent to the northern border to defend against an attack by Nazi Germany. However, their mission soon turns into a struggle for survival, and their ultimate goal is no longer the defence of their homeland, but merely their own lives.
Based on the novel of the same name by Nikolai Cherginets. The film begins in the spring of 1941 and ends with the first months after the liberation of Belarus. In the center of the plot of the film – the story of three brothers Kuprevich. Police Lieutenant Alexei Kuprevich receives an appointment as an operative in one of the districts of Western Belarus. His task – to neutralize the rampant gang there "forest brothers". War begins. Alex and his brother, senior police Lieutenant Peter Kuprevich receive the first combat mission: to destroy the landed settlements under the German assault...
Despite the restoration of Soviet power in the area, Basmachis continue to arrive from across the border, bringing death and destruction to peaceful villages. One of the bands of rebels is led by Khairulla who is pitted against the militsiya (local militia) leader Maxumov. At first it seems hopeless for Maxumov as the rebels capture most of his men, winning them over to his side. He has only one strategy left; to give himself up, and try to explain to the people that Khairulla has deceived them, turning the soldiers back to revolution. Later in pursuit of his enemy, he chases Khairulla across a river. He has only one bullet left -- the seventh, and he must not miss his target!

After the major campaigns, the Liberation War’s focus shifted to the northwest. Hu Zongnan retreated south, and Fang Zhiqiao led his remnants to Mount Hua, known for its rugged terrain. Fang deployed forces at key passes, but a military intelligence officer, with herbalist Chang Shenglin’s help, cut off enemy communication by reaching the North Peak. A political offensive led to the surrender of the enemy at Qianshi Zhuang, controlling all passages between the North and West Peaks. Trapped, Fang Zhiqiao’s troops, with shattered morale, launched a futile counterattack, leading to his despairing lament.

Bruck, a Hungarian concentration camp-survivor, settled in Italy after the Second World War and wrote about her experiences in autobiographical and fictional formats.[1] The film stars Geraldine Chaplin and Nino Castelnuovo.
