In a small Texas town, Horace Robedaux feels the pressure - he doesn't want to leave his young wife Elizabeth and their young child Jenny - but Elizabeth's can't-do-anything-right little brother is constantly talking about the war, and Elizabeth's stern father, who opposed the marriage initially, now has plans to take care of his daughter and the child so Horace can fight for his country. However, the influenza epidemic sweeping the town (and the nation) may change everyone's plans.

Propaganda film about the Dutch Military. Willy Mullens made this film in 1917, when other West-European armies had become numbed by three long years in the trenches. The footage depicts a relatively high-spirited mood, considering how the Dutch military had mobilized but not actually participated in the war. Precisely who it was that needed to be convinced of the solid foundation of Dutch neutrality is shown clearly in a folder that accompanied the screening of this film at the Residentie cinema in The Hague: ‘The purpose of the film is to impress upon the Dutch people (…) that our military forces, with the resources at their disposal, can readily be compared to those of the foreign military forces.’ The term ‘impress upon’ can be taken literally: people needed to be put at ease.
19th century. Russia, one of the biggest and most powerful empires in the world is fighting a bloody war to subjugate the free peoples of the Caucasus. In 1828 Caucasian Imamate was established in order to unite Caucasian peoples against Russia under the banner of Islam. By 1834 the situation is dire. Ghazi-Muhammad, the leader of the Imamate, gets killed in an ambush by the Russian forces. One of his loyal warriors, Shamil, barely escapes alive. The fight must continue, but the future is uncertain.

Zhao Jian captures the guerrilla leader Zhang Ling and learns that the Black Wolf Squad isn't transporting humanitarian supplies but materials for human experimentation conducted by Cha Cai for personal gain. Zhang Ling pleads for help from the Black Wolf Squad but is refused. On their way back, the squad stumbles upon the horrifying aftermath of the human experiments in the jungle. Overcome with sorrow, Zhao Jian decides to quit the Squad and join Zhang Ling to fight Cha Cai. Zhao Jian is backed by his teammates, who vow to wipe out Cha Cai's organization and avenge the dead.
