A look back at this week's events
CBC News The National is CBC Television's flagship national television newscast, broadcast from the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in Toronto. It reports on major Canadian and international news stories, airing on CBC Television weeknights and Sundays at 10:00 p.m. local time. On Saturdays, a 30-minute edition generally airs at 6:00 p.m. ET during the season of Hockey Night in Canada, and 6:00 local otherwise, except on certain stations carrying local newscasts in that timeslot instead. Since September of 2007, The National has aired in HDTV, the first Canadian national newscast to do so. The program is also aired on CBC News Network; on weekdays, the initial version that airs live to Atlantic Canada on the main network is simulcast on CBC News Network at 9:00 p.m., with several repeat broadcasts overnight. Until August 2005, The National was also seen in the United States on the defunct Newsworld International channel; the program continues to air occasionally on C-SPAN when that network wants to provide coverage of a major Canadian news story, or a Canadian angle for a world or American event.
ITV News Tyne Tees is a regional television news and current affairs programme, produced by ITV Tyne Tees & Border from its studios in Gateshead, and serving County Durham, North Yorkshire, Northumberland, Teesside and Tyne and Wear.
Kolbotek is a veteran Israeli consumer affairs and investigative reporting TV show on Channel 2. It premiered in December 1974 on Channel 1 and was then presented by Daniel Paer. Since 1979 the show has been presented by its editor and producer, Rafi Ginat.
The War Room with Michael Shure was a news and political commentary program on Current TV It was initially hosted by former Governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm. The show debuted on January 30, 2012 and aired on weeknights followed by The Young Turks with Cenk Uygur and Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer. "The War Room" is an allusion to the place where strategists plan a political campaign. Granholm had said that the program's stance would be progressive. Upon the departure of Granholm, The Young Turks contributor Michael Shure took up her role as the host. The show aired its final episode on August 15, 2013.
Firstline is a New Zealand morning news programme produced by 3 News, the news division of TV3. The two-and-a-half hour programme, designed to compete with TVNZ's Breakfast, first went to air on 7 March 2011. It was hosted by Rachel Smalley until mid-2013, after which the host's seat rotated amongst other 3 News presenters. Sports news is presented by Sam Ackerman. Firstline features regular technology segments including Tech Bytes on Thursdays, and commentary by Steve Simms, Paul Spain or Ben Gracewood on Mondays. Unlike most other morning news services, Firstline is solely a news show and does not include magazine or lifestyle segments, instead choosing to focus on recent current events, with reports from 3 News reporters and live or pre-recorded interviews.
News Watch 9, stylized as news Watch 9 is the flagship evening news program of the public Japanese broadcaster, NHK. It airs weekdays on NHK General Television and worldwide on NHK World Premium and is also available on the networks video-on-demand service. Currently, it is presented by NHK Political correspondent Okoshi Kensuke and Inoue Asahi. The program has been broadcast by the network since 1961, although it has been using its current title only from 2006. It is broadcast on weekdays, from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and features national and international news, commentary, sports and weather. Unlike most newscasts, NW9 prohibits the use of full scripts and limits the use of teleprompters.

Crossfire is a current events debate television program that airs on CNN. Its format is designed to present and challenge the opinions of a politically liberal pundit and a conservative pundit. The show initially ran from 1982 to 2005, when it was canceled. CNN announced on June 26, 2013, that after eight years off the air, a new version of Crossfire would re-launch September 16th, 2013, later moved to September 9. The panelists for the new edition of Crossfire are former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and political commentator S. E. Cupp representing the right and political consultant Stephanie Cutter and advocate Van Jones representing the left.
W5 is a Canadian news magazine television series produced by CTV News. The program is broadcast Saturday nights at 7 p.m. on CTV, with repeat broadcasts at later times on CTV as well as co-owned channels CTV Two, CP24, and Investigation Discovery. The title refers to the Five Ws of journalism: Who, What, Where, When and Why? It is the longest-running newsmagazine/documentary program in North America and the most-watched program of its type in Canada.
