Families was a daytime soap opera produced by Granada Television and created by Kay Mellor. It followed two families; the Thompsons, based in Cheshire, England, and the Stevens, living in Sydney, Australia. It was produced and recorded at Studio 6 at Granada Studios in Manchester. The link in the storyline was businessman Mike Thompson, who walked out on his family on his birthday and flew to Australia to be with his true love Diana Stevens, whom he had left years earlier. Unbeknownst to Mike, Diana had given birth to his son Andrew and as complications ensued over the abrupt life changes for both families, Andrew travelled to England, where he met Mike’s daughter, Amanda, by his English wife Sue, and they fell in love, not realising that they were half-brother and sister. This plot line was somewhat similar to the opening storyline of the popular Australian soap opera Sons and Daughters which had successfully aired on ITV daytime since 1983. It was broadcast twice a week at 3.20pm with the first episode broadcast on 23 April 1990. Both episodes were also repeated on Thursday 10.40pm in the Granada TV region as part of Granada's "10.40-extra" strand. After two years, stories involving the Thompson and Stevens families—and the UK-Australian crossover angle—had run their course, with several characters either dead or left for pastures new. In their place came the wealthy Bannerman family, who were introduced during the summer of 1992, as they moved into the Thompsons' Cheshire mansion from a suburb of Manchester. In addition, some of the remaining Australian-based characters were re-located to England.
A story about an orphan named Korya who turns out to be the long lost daughter of Noppadara Siwawong, the great-great grandchild of a king. During the journey to be reunited with her mother, the car she was in gets into an accident and the other orphan traveling with her, Payia, uses this chance to steal her identity. Meanwhile, Id, a young man Korya met previously and did not get along with, finds her and takes her to the hospital. When Korya wakes up, she has lost her memory, so Id, for fear of her safety, pretends that she's his soon-to-be fiancée and keeps her close. Will Korya ever recover her memory, and to what lengths will Payia go to keep her secret?
The year is 1905 during King Chulalongkorn’s reign, Thai slavery has come to an end. As men are fighting for a place society, women are fighting for a place at home. Reuan Sanaeha tells the story of Khun Luang Prap Thamrongnakhra and his two wives, one is very beautiful but very cold-hearted played by Bee Namthip. His second wife is a selfish woman from Chiangmai played by Pim Pimmada. The two women do not get along and are in constant competition for Khun Luang’s affection and the number spot in the household. Not only do they have competition with each other, they also have to compete with Khun Luang’s servant wives, especially Mali (Jeab), one of Khun Luang’s faithful servant wives. The story centers around the two women’s desire for the number spot in the household and the things they will do to get there.
Petch is an engineer that Namneung fell in love with when she was still in high school. She is very happy when Petch tells her that he loves her and asks her to marry him, but Namneung's father Kriengsak and mother Daranee don't agree because they have a different social status. Namneung's friend Phak secretly loves her and does not pay attention to other women, even if Alice was the one who loved him. Even though Numneung's parents don't agree, they get married and Petch takes Namneung to his house. There, Namneung meets Petch's mother Taptim and Petch's sister Ploy. They seem unfriendly and cold to her, especially Ploy, who looks as if she hated Namneung from the first second they meet because she is disabled due to an accident caused by Namneung's father. This seems to be a part of a revenge.

As a housekeeper on the Nareusorn Farm Nichamon discovers a vicious feud between the two neighboring farms rooted in Chaiburathut. Because Thut saw a signed document exchange between his father and the neighboring Sonalai farm owner, he believes that the Sonalais are responsible for swindling money from his dad and ultimately driving his dad to his death. Pimnareumon and Rawipaat of the separate feuding farms like each other but must guard their hearts. As Nichamon gets thrown into the mix, she starts to help Paat’s and Nammon’s love along with investigating about her grandmother but Thut proves to be the biggest road block.
Nien was separated from her infant boy Dang-Noi, when she was sent to work for Khun (Lord) Pak-Dee-Phu-Ban as part of a debt payment.
The Brighter Day is an American daytime soap opera which aired on CBS from January 4, 1954 to September 28, 1962. Originally created for NBC radio by Irna Phillips in 1948, the radio and television versions ran simultaneously from 1954-1956. Set in New Hope, Wisconsin, the series revolved around Reverend Richard Dennis and his four children, Althea, Patsy, Babby and Grayling. The Brighter Day was the first soap opera to air on network television with an explicitly religious theme. Another soap opera created by Phillips, The Guiding Light, initially had a religious theme as a radio show but dropped it by the time the series moved to television.
