Napoleon, back from the island of Elba, had regained power and reconstituted the Grande Armée, which was on the march towards Belgium, where the battle of Waterloo was to take place. Colonel Neuville was summoned by Marshal Ney. Ney entrusted him with a special mission: to go and meet Colonel Reynauld, a renowned royalist who refused to hand over command of his men to the Empire. It was imperative that his men join the Grande Armée. However, beyond their political differences, Neuville and Reynauld are brothers and a strong antagonism separates them. Their duel will be all the more intense for it.

On a stage-like set, more than 200 actors interpret characters of the Commune, especially the Popincourt neighborhood in the XIth arrondissement. They voice their thoughts and feelings concerning the social and political reforms.

The programme is about his quest to track them down, an undertaking not without risks. The cliffs of Qumran still attract scroll hunters with non-academic motives - the scrolls are much sought after by private collectors and the shady figures of the black market who supply them.

Gallipoli: history in the depths

An historical overview of the tragic circumstances during the Gallipoli campaign in 1915. The Straits of the Dardanelles, a strategic key to the battle for Constantinople proved to be a watery graveyard for many Allied naval ships and cost the lives of over 500,000 soldiers from both the Allies and the Turks. A thread running through the documentary is the battleships lost at sea. Underwater photography of the remains of many of these ships is included. Also includes stills, newsreel and archival film footage, and a detailed retelling through the words of historians, experts and the actual soldiers who fought in the Gallipoli campaign. Best friends Kenneth Reynolds and Raymond Jordan are U.S. Navy officers, and Kenneth is engaged to Raymond's sister. But the eruption of the Civil War divides them, as Raymond stands by his native Virginia while Kenneth remains on duty as a Northern officer. Kenneth's uncle, John Ericsson, designs a new kind of ship, an ironclad he calls the Monitor. Eventually the war pits Kenneth, on board the Monitor, against his friend Raymond, serving aboard the South's own ironclad, the Merrimac (as it is called here). A naval battle ensues, one that will go down in history.
