John Burton, a railroad clerk from the east, was spending his vacation hunting in the wild lands about John Walsh's shack. One morning, as he was eagerly following a large hawk, which he had already wounded, he lost his balance on the edge of a cliff and plunged down to the stony ground below. His cries for help attracted Walsh's attention and he was taken to the latter's cabin, where he was tenderly cared for by Walsh and his wife, until he was able to return to his duties in the east. Walsh's wife was the apple of his eye, but, like most things that we love, she did not last, and twenty years later we find him a broken old man, living in the days that are gone.
Tony Valero, a lusty young vaquero, is enamored of Clarita Montes, whose father is fairly well off, as the middle class Mexicans figure. Clarita prefers Tony to her numerous admirers, but the father has selected, for his future son-in-law, a young dandy called Jose Rodreguis, who has a certain amount of money which allows him more ease than his neighbors. Jose trades upon this fact and presses his attentions upon Clarita. He bitterly resents her preference for Tony and does all in his power to belittle his rival.

A doddering old gentleman, out for his morning's constitutional, suffers an attack of epilepsy in front of a saloon in the country town. Pedestrians run to his rescue and the barkeeper of the saloon brings out a good jolt of whiskey to revive the stricken one. A tramp who has noted the accident, has also mentally noted the glass of whiskey, and being thirsty for a drink himself, he turns away, a brilliant scheme revolving in his mind. A few minutes later the tramp in passing another saloon is seen to fall and go into violent contortions. A crowd gathers and the saloonkeeper comes out with the dose of whiskey. "Weary" is delighted, and meeting an old tramp friend of his, puts him wise to the little game.
A short adventure film. Two boys ride through the woods on horseback and are chased by wolves. They climb up a tree and are rescued by their father, who captures the wolves. In real life as well, this man was a well-known wolf-trapper.
At dawn, two cowboys set out to scout ahead; as soon as they are on the trail of a herd of wild horses, they attempt to surround them and drive them back. A rapid stamping alerts their companions, who prepare the lassos; the ropes whistle, wind around the necks of the panicked beasts, which take a few more steps then, strangled and panting, are brought back captive. In the evening, they camp. Large fires are lit around which men and beasts settle down to sleep, not without a good guard being kept in the surrounding area. Meanwhile, the Apaches creep under cover of night to the American camp and succeed in seizing the captured beasts. Following this abduction, a frantic pursuit begins across the vast solitude of the Far West.
A widowed and bankrupt farmer is being harassed by crooked creditors. Cornered, he steals a large sum of money from them to offer his daughter a future he cannot guarantee anymore. Knowing all too well the mob will not let this pass, the farmer finds refuge in his beliefs and summons the Ankou - Death's henchman in Brittany - to offer his life in exchange for his daughter's protection.
