A Caprice of Darling Caroline

When the revolution of 1789 breaks out Caroline is sent to a convent but her carriage is waylaid. She escapes and makes her way to Gaston's home, where she finds him in the arms of his mistress. She is angry and then agrees to marry Livio, now an out-of-favor revolutionary and a marked man, and Caroline is also now on the death list.

The sinking of the German fleet interned at Scapa-Flow (Orkney Islands), June 21, 1919. We know that one of the stipulations of the armistice signed with Germany on November 11, 1918 was that that power's surface warships were to be "immediately decommissioned and interned in neutral or Allied ports, and remain there under the supervision of the Allies and the United States, guard detachments only being maintained on board". In fact, all the ships designated by the Allies - 11 battleships, 5 battlecruisers, 7 light cruisers and 50 destroyers - had, a few days after the armistice, been assembled in Scapa-Flow Bay, in the center of the Orkney archipelago, i.e. north of Scotland, and had remained there ever since, under the supervision of the English naval authorities, but under the effective authority of German Admiral von Reuter.

On the eve of the PLA's launch of the cross-river campaign, Kuomintang battalion commander Huang Huai'en led his troops to retreat to the south of the Yangtze River at the Chu's Ferry where it was stationed. Before leaving, he told the landlord Chu boss that he would marry He Hua, the daughter of the Chu family, and left an ancestral jade bracelet as a token. During that evening, He Hua met with Liu ZhenShan, the leader of the People's Liberation Army who came to investigate, and fell in love at first sight.
