Displaced Person is a 1985 Emmy award winning drama based on a short story by Kurt Vonnegut. It was directed by Alan Bridges and adapted by Fred Barron from a story in the Welcome to the Monkey House collection.

The movie-almanac consists of three novellas dedicated to the song. "Song-password". Lieutenant Marchenko is sent to the Nazi-occupied city to pass a purse with fuses to the underground scouts through the liaison. The password song helps the scouts to find each other. "Song about the mother." Working in distant Africa, pilots Igor and Victor once recorded on a tape recorder a song about his mother. Soon Igor dies during an epidemic. And Victor, in memory of his friend, gives his mother the tape they recorded. "Song at Dawn". Student Sergei dedicated to his favorite girl Valya composed by him "Song at Dawn". Valya then did not understand Sergei's feelings and married his friend. Sergei leaves. Years pass. Valya's personal life did not go well. And now she often remembers Sergei's sweet song.
Hong Kong romance set in wartime
The images comprise only of material Sergei Loznitsa found in the Moscow film archives about the siege of Leningrad during the World War II. By providing the originally silent images with a meticulously reconstructed soundtrack, the scenes from everyday life under siege seem to be set in the present. By not intervening in the montage but giving the scenes room to tell a story, the scenes transcend the specific historic events and lead a new life. They do not evoke memories of the past, but become a breathtaking reanimation of reality.

The story of a group of American commandos assigned to kidnap General Rommel. But the soldiers are caught by the Germans who decide to use their plan against them. Replacing the American soldiers with German soldiers, and with the help of a fake "kidnapped" Rommel, they plan to kill General Eisenhower
Roman Cudakowski, for his friends Cudak, plays in a band at weddings and city parties. During the occupation, the musician did not do well. Entrances to the premises for Germans are an opportunity to earn money. However, they cannot imagine themselves orchestras without a violinist. Cudak takes the gifted Szymon Akerman out of the ghetto to concerts, with whom he did not agree before the war. In the new reality, they both need each other: Cudak can earn money by playing with Akerman, has a chance to survive. One day, Roman decides to permanently take the violinist and his family from the ghetto and hide them, risking his life, in his home.
The story depicts two brothers who fight on opposites sides in the U.S. Civil War and end up meeting in battle.
Under the shadowy threat of war, a young Ukrainian girl awaits a call from her father. As she waits, the day turns into night and she sinks into various dreamscapes from which she must find her way home.
